My name is Jacob Cecil, I am a student at Indiana University and currently finishing my senior year. As an informatics major with a psychology minor, I am passionate about the interplay between technology and healthcare. I enjoy analyzing data to gain new understandings with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes. 


    January 2019 (Ongoing)

    Evaluated the binary classification model implemented for C.Diff (Clistridium Difficile Colitis) risk prediction using ROC analysis. Built a network model representing the movement of C.Diff-positive patients between the nursing units of two facilities. Currently working on quantifying the burden of this infection on the nursing units, which will then be incorporated to in the model. The network (pictured below) was built using networkx (python), visualized with Gephi.

    December 2018 (Ongoing)

    Performed exploratory data analysis on cases of Hospital-Acquired Pneumonia (HAP) and Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) in the form of descriptive statistics using Pandas in a Jupyter notebook. Currently building an analytics application for HAP/VAP data using Microsoft's Power BI. The application will eventually be published to the organization's shared Power BI space.

    February 2019 (Ongoing)

    Performed table joins to build the dataset used for the ongoing Peripheral Intravenous Line (PIV) Plastics Research. Cleansed the data and calculated non-PIV line days for each patient in the dataset. These were used as model predictors for the likelihood of a patient developing a central line associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI). Special thanks to Joshua Sadowski for building the model. ​​
